ABOUT MARIAH
Back in 2013, I graduated from school and got accepted to an undergrad illustration program at MCAD, a private art college in Minneapolis, with a portfolio. After registering for classes, I soon realized 2 things:
• I didn't want to be an illustrator badly enough to shell out the $90-100k in tuition
• I didn't know WHAT I wanted to be...
This led me to nix my art school plan, move to the Twin Cities with a couple of roommates, and begin exploring different career paths.
Over the years, I held various 9-5 jobs, including barista, cocktail waitress, personal care assistant, barbershop and tattoo shop receptionist, and healthcare administration. None of them stuck.
The thing is...
I've loved writing for as long as I can remember. Reading fiction, journaling, and creative writing were always vital artistic outlets for me. I dreamt of writing my own book one day and, for a long while, thought that was the only way to make a living as a writer.
In 2022, I realized I wanted, no, NEEDED, more freedom and flexibility over my schedule and my life - and to spend it doing more of what I love.
In search of remote work, I discovered copywriting and have been learning it ever since. With a little boy, a cat, and a lot of plants in a little city apartment, I set out to build a business that fits our life instead of the other way around.
Fast forward to now: I'm helping brands and businesses articulate their ideas and reach readers all around the world from my computer, working from a variety of locations at whatever time of day I choose.
